The Geologist's Path allows for a fascinating journey through the history of the earth. The layers of the Dolomites have been impressively exposed by the long-term effects of the water of the Frötschbach, offering hikers and geology enthusiasts alike the opportunity to experience beautiful waterfalls and an impressive geological panorama.

You can easily reach the starting point at Hotel Bad Ratzes by taking the Line 15 bus from the Seiser Alm Cable Car or Seis. https://www.seiseralm.it/en/info/mobility/bus-connections.html

The route starts at Hotel Bad Ratzes and leads towards the imposing Schlern over the Frötschbach. After crossing the bridge, the hiking trail turns left towards "Schlernboden, Prossliner Schwaige" (trail no. 1), leading along the Frötschbach gorge with impressive views of waterfalls. At a fork in the trail, the Geologist's Path turns left downhill (trail no. 1a) and crosses the Frötschbach to the other side of the valley. The path continues uphill through the alpine meadows of Prossliner Schwaige and follows the valley to cross the Frötschbach again. The hike ends at Schlernbödelehütte (trail no. 1), where the steep descent through switchbacks into the forest begins. The final stretch of the route follows the same ascent path back to Hotel Bad Ratzes.
