Hauenstein and Salegg are the two ruins you can find near Seis and reach on foot. Hauenstein Castle was built in the 12th century and its most famous owner was undoubtedly the poet and politician Oswald von Wolkenstein. After inheritance disputes and expansions, the castle eventually fell into ruins in the 17th century.

You can visit the Salegg Castle ruins in the Hauensteiner Forest on your way back from Hauenstein Castle. The paths are well signposted, and in addition to the few remaining structures, you will mainly find a breathtaking view when you reach Salegg.
